    Re: Todays Bike Ride

I rode something similar around Brooklyn for a day back in February. Very Old Skool and actually quite cool, but like you, I found those cages for my feet the most treacherous about the bike. I am so used to be clipped in these days that I feel quite lost without it!

Reminds me of my grandad's old Carlton from the 60s/70s, steel rat traps and chrome toe clips with leather straps- classic!

Just a hour which equaled 16m 1100ft climb and average hr of 157bpm.
Thats a fairly hard ride at that work rate for me.
Winds made it tougher in places.

    Rest day today...

Supposed to be on a long tough one with coach tomorrow, but he texted earlier saying he doesn't like the weather forecast and will send me out on my own if it rains :w00t:

And that after making me train in the pooring bloody rain three times last week as well!!!

And this week it has been dry so far and sunny and he makes me sit on the bliddy turbo!

Ah well, I just go out in it and then decide afterwards that it was really too awful for a ride LOL

I've shook the fair weather tag today. Done 60 (well 58.3) miles and got caught in the worst winds and hail coming back down the Isle of Skye road so decided to gain some man points and stuck on another full ascent and descent (12 miles)

    Brilliant stuff Tom! Wow!

I was lucky, as the weather cleared at lunchtime, so went out for my coached ride in the evening in the sun!

I am now totally knackered and my legs hurt! We did about 80 miles in 3 hrs 15 minutes and that included climbing, sorinting off his wheel and other simulated race stuff... average HR was 158 :w00t: It was harder than last weeks race!!!

God do I need a recovery spin tomorrow, legs hurt going down the stairs!

Today in this fantastic weather, I had a hard 12 mile circuit with two long road climbs.&taking in a very muddy/greasy/claggy Longridge fell
Twas more fun than you can wave a muddy bike at!!

    Re: Todays Bike Ride

I went out for a recovery ride... legs felt really heavy to begin with, but soon loosened up pedalling at a high cadence, all in the little ring, and at a low heart rate. Twenty minutes or so in the rain, but I could see brighter sky to the South so that is where I headed, and into the dry! Good decision, because other than about 5 minutes of rain while riding underneath that bog rain cloud again on my way back, it remained dry

Quite quick too, still 30 km/hr average... not bad for a recovery ride, I must be getting stronger
