I hope not to hit any rocks this year too!
Really looking forward to it this year - the organisers are making a huge effort to bring this back to the Classic International Race it used to be many many years ago - the better the runners the better the race.

Let the debate begin on footwear!

Math - where are you seeing all the old footage - Interweb or are they from your Private Betamax collection ;-)

I will also be running, my 7th in total, but going to be nowhere near my PB as I haven't trained as much as I would have liked due to work committments. As for footwear, I will be sticking to my tried and tested New Balance 909 regardless of the weather. I did try the Salomons Speedcross in training last year but was going over on my ankle for some reason.

    interesting clip,
looks like the runners were allowed to come up the rail track back then and also the zig zag section just before the summit is not there which made it a more direct line.these and one or two other factors could be the reason why no ones been close to the record in years its only Mark K thats been close and that was in the late 90`s.
a good runner could get close this year due to the improvments to the path and also the permited railway section, but TBH i`m not sure the current crop are up to it(views also expressed bu KS)

Found a short video clip of the great John Lenihan, winner in 1989, reaching the summit - not so many folk around then and look at the way they crossed the railway line just before the train came up. It's about a minute into the video here:

    Re: Snowdon

Would have worn Roclite 295s as last year but need something better cushioned due to a back injury. I was considering my New Balance road shoes, which were OK on Moel-Y-Gest on Saturday but am considering buying some trail shoes, which I could do with anyway. New Balance seem to fit me well so maybe the 749, though the Salomon crossmax have caught my eye. Any thoughts as I'm running out of time?! On the other hand I might just put some thin noene insoles in the Roclites and see how they go. Either way I'm expecting the downhill to be slow and potentially painful. Seemed unlikely a few weeks ago so just glad to be there :-)

Does anybody have space for a little'un to get over to the race on the morning, coming back on the same day? Wife needs the car, so struggling at the moment to get there from the South Manchester area.
