I don't personally know Allan but I wish I did. To be able to complete Barrowdale at MV65 is a fantastic achievement. The likes of Allan are what makes this fantastic sport of ours so special, well done young man

    Re: Borrowdale Fell Race

Great day out, despite the unpromising conditions at the start it turned out lovely - dry, clear and no wind - bit slippy underfoot. Third year doing the race, and did my best time by 19 mins, 4:19 . Good lines off Brandreth & Dalehead kept me ahead of the good descenders, but rubbish decision to go back to Broad Crag Col rather than do the scree run! Room for improvement next year.

Thanks to all the organising team, sponsors & supporters. Sorry about the rather manic and vocal collie dog supporting at Styhead.

Hey, I've just got to comment on the photo of Joss shaking hands with the Helm Hill lady (post 1825#)....

    ... it was me!

How exciting - not only did I get to shake hands with the fell running Legend himself, but someone captured it on camera!

It was my first 'Borrowdale' and I'd been quite concerned about making the cut-off, particularly - as you might have noticed from the tape across my left knee - I'm a little injured at the moment. However, I enjoyed it and made it through Honister with 25 minutes to spare. Had to walk some of the descents to protect my knee from further damage and, like others who've posted here, I had my fair share of slips and slides on the wet grass and greasy rocks.

But I finished! And I was delighted.

This was my first Borrowdale too and I really enjoyed it - everyone was super friendly and encouraging.

I must've looked lost at one point because someone said "If you don't know the way, it's over there, and keep to the right of the tarn", very helpful

A few pics snapped on my phone on the way round: http://www.flickr.com/photos/jurasou...71738927/show/ I reckon they cost me about 5 minutes but worth it!

Drove straight to Stoke-on-Trent afterwards and didn't get cramp, result.

    Looking forward to next year.

Thought i recognised that lady from somewhere, was on the BG leg 2 reccie last year, think it was febuary time, well done on finishing injured Leaf, it's a tough race when fully fit. First met Joss myself at Styhead a couple of years ago, spurred me on to run part of GG.........well about 50 yards of it.

Hello Stevefoster and Daleside! (and yes, that Leg 2 recce a year ago last February was most memorable!)

I knew I recognised the name 'Pippa Maddams'! I'm twice honoured.

She gives a really good massage too!
