I reckon second hand ones would be okay. I can't remember ever having a new set!! You're right I should just go out but I'm preparing for the winter...

    Dont know anyone Dan
The Tacx Antares that I have are spot on. Lots of bikies have them. Think about £160. Ribble had them cheapest last time I looked.

I have those takx ones... like them, but have no comparison...

And I have been out on the roads, in the Lakes... for a minor jaunt accross some Lakeland passes... I am afraid I have to admit that riding the Fred Whitton route has left me utterly exhausted and to my shame, I had to bail on the 30% bsection of Hardknott It was quite scary that the front wheel came off the tarmac but when I leant forward more the rear wheel started spinning... and a car behind me was burning out his clutch trying to get up as well. I was reminded by the friend I rode it with that it wasn't to be ashamed about, because most blokes don't dare to even start the ride on a standard chainset... I do know that when I do it again next year, officially, I shall fit a compact to the bike though! Bloody hard work!!! Descending Hardknott and Wrynose scared the shit out of me too...

Awesome day though! Nothing better than seeing the whole of the Lakes in one day from your bike! Good weather for it too

And the quality of the road isnt the best. The passes are starting to break up bigtime in places. Well done. Def no shame in reporting you didnt quite manage it.The trick with getting up it on a std double is to learn how to literally balance as your pedals go over twelve o clock. Nice and steady at the start but it is tough.A compact will help, problem is if you get a car behind you its difficult.Another trick is to starve yourself for a week, lol.Just off out for a sat afternoon ride.

Thanks Daz Yes, there must be a balancing technique where you can keep turning the pedals and keep enough momentum not to fall over, as well as not to lift either your frnt of the road or have your rear spinning. I must find a steep bit of road arounhd here and try find that point...

Having a car behind AND in front, one going up one coming down wasn't exactly helpful either! I REALLY scared myswelf on the descent... must practice that too...

Looking at my Garmin, I managed 159.8 kms (100 miles) in 7 hrs 2 minutes... considering the fact that the whole route is 112 miles... I don't think that was bad going actually Just missed out Honister...

Just got back for the Vuelta. 57miles for me. Great going out, but a hard wind coming back which made it tough.
DEf has to be the hardest stretch of the A6 when its windy.

Just watching your crowd Hann, team rabobank doing the TT. Nice bibshorts indeed.
Yes good time for your ride
