I don't know if its the foggy weather that is showing all the spiders webs up at the moment but there were loads in my garden this morning including a single filament extending some 15' between the back door and the fence

Stunning indeed. I've just sat open-mouthed through the whole 'nature' slideshow.
Yesterday. Spotted a common lizard on the road from Bowden Bridge towards Kinder Reservoir. NotVeryMiniMarvin almost ran it over on his bike. Then later as we drove home, what I think was a weasel running across the road in front of the car. That was the second lizard I've seen this year, the first being on the Kinder Plateau. Are they becoming more common, of have I just been lucky.
You see a few up on Kinder and on Howden regularly, I think they are as you say common, they are just quick at getting away. on a summer morning with good eyesight you should detect some on south facing slopes warming up.(Not in a running sense)
Plenty of those huge black flies on Kinder this morning, I could hardly see or breath for them, huge swarms of the blighters, ended up cutting the run short because of it.
A couple of racing pigeons apparently walking home on the Pennine BridlewayI offered them a lift on my handlebars but they were going in the other direction. I am not a pigeon fancier but they looked in beautiful condition not iike your manky feral ones, slim, shiny, rings on both legs, probably somebody's pride and joy so hope they keep away from the foxes!
