There certainly used to be some up between malham and grassington, I've seen them in Scotland and one or two rivers in northern england.

Training / recce with my brother round the Three Shires yesterday in beautiful late summer sunshine. Dragonflies, flying ants (and walking ants), a frog croaking as we climbed Wetherlam, and a larger chorus as we headed down to Blea Tarn.

Badger skull found the other day near Stockdale Lane. Looked clean, so stuck it in a plastic bag and popped it in bumbag. Forgot about it for a day or two and nearly retched when I opened the bumbag to get my waterproof out, everything stank like DEATH!
    (Bleached and safe now though)

Saw a stoat on my run on Wednesday and a huge hedgehog pottering across the road last night.

I saw about 8 deer in effectively a small herd in a field to one side of High Hill Lane above Settle on the way back from work tonight. It makes me wonder whether they were actually being farmed but deer can easily get over the dry stone walls up there, so that's probably not likel. They were a beautiful sandy brown and about half had the full antler kit on top

Ay'up Stolly...there used to be a herd of Red Deer in the Hellifield Moor area, they were introduced by a land owner many years ago. Eventually the herd dispersed into the surrounding area and for the last 10 years the deer have resided in the Langber Lane/Scaleber area. I have some film footage from last year of a 20 plus strong herd in a field near to the Wildshare Plantation adjacent to Langber Lane. They're always in the area but are quite elusive. I have an ambition to photograph the herd one of these days.

Cheers Andy. Thats exactly the area I saw them and I figured you'd know something about it. I've seen quite a few single sightings and the odd pair but this is the first time I've seen such a large group.
