Best of luck AndyH and everybody else. Sorry I can't join you this year. Food is pretty good and varied. Look out for the jam doughnuts at nr. Chelmorton and hot dogs at Brand Top. You'll need those and more to keep the fire burning. Some personal emergency rations are needed in case of a low point between checkpoints and in case the checkpoint food does not light your candle. One drink bottle should suffice because the checkpoints are not far apart. As already mentioned, don't forget your mug. I'll keep my fingers crossed for good weather. I'll follow your progress on line from beside the barbecue as I recover from the UTMB with my feet up.
Sub 14 hours is a good time to aim for, especially if it's your first time and navigation may be an issue.

Would you say a 2 litre camelbak bladder is overdoing it? Judging by comments re waterbottles and the relatively short distances between checkpoints I'm hoping so.

How strict are definitions of a first aid kit and spare batteries/bulbs enforced? I'm aiming on taking a few plasters, small bandage and two small headtorches.

    Again, good luck all.

I'm about to cycle up to the start to 'ow do, take a few piccies and see you all off. Amazingly considering the forecast, the sun's still trying to shine. Long may it continue. It's going to be a warm day and balmy night - typical BSH weather. Enjoy.

The first one's finished already - an hour ago in fact - fellow Stockport Harrier James Scott-Buccleuch in 8:46. What a machine. Live results here. Did you guess correctly then Daz? As soon as I saw James on the start line I thought: "Hello, this one's a bit of a dead cert".

Oh Yes - really pleased for James, he'd been recce-ing it and everything!
really talented runner who has come on loads over the last couple of years

also great to hear that his two BS training partners (Neil & Steve) finished in 2nd and 5th, thus scooping the team prize for Stockport

    Re: Bullock Smithy

A well run event, very well organised with supportive marshalls and the fry up at the end was very much appreciated. First time on this run and managed to beat my target of 12hrs. The winning time was amazing and although the conditions were good he must have been flying through the checkpoints - not even chance for a cup of tea and a chat ; ).

Finally, congratulations to all those that made it round.
