I did do a little bit on the front too though but lost him over Whernside, only for him to overtake me as I was dealing with the casualty and for me to overtake him again as I was shooting off to find Mountain rescue, while he was stretching out his cramping calves!

    I would like to blame this uncharacteristic display of gentlemanliness for my subsequent failure to keep up with you, however I fear it was more likely to be my lack of appropriate training and rubbish descending.

    Think I will be sticking to fell races where you don't have to carry a bike in future!
