Yes, good luck to all of you - it's a good event & a major challenge. I'm glad I pulled out though: my chest's still not right & I still hate industrial dereliction & flat bits. Going recceing in the Lakes instead.

Well that wasn't nearly as bad as i thuoght it may be! The wonderful weather helped. Fab day out - lots of lovely people to chat to - only went a few steps wrong now and then. The checkpoints were fantastic - great food and helpful jolly people. I have decided I don't like 50 miles - i get bored of running But had a cracking day out. Managed to bash my head up in the first few miles by headbutting a stile - ooops! many thanks to the people who were asking if i was ok - I must have looked a bit worse for wear by the Column section with blood dripping down my head. I am an idiot!

I too enjoyed the whole shooting match and was pleased with my 10.29

I can't fit in training for these sort of distances hence I crash and burn by the end so .... I got what I trained for and had a grand day out to boot.

Many thanks to all at RHAC and their supporters for excellent help and encouragement.

I may stick to the 23 / 36 bracket in future :closed: but ... i've done it and no-one can take it from me.

I`ll blog my experience in a day or so.

A great event and great weather as well, happy days:thumbup:

I had a tough time at about 24 miles. Fed up with following the strip maps adnd making little errors, I ran too fast to catch a runner that clearly knew the route. He was running too fast as well and we both had a bad spell and by the time I caught him at about 29 miles we had to run most of the way to the finish together in survival mode. I think I did 3.30 for the first half and 4.05 the second. That says it all. Still I am fairly pleased with 10th place. Room for improvement, so may have to have a rematch next year.

Well done to all who finished.

I got talking to one of our Senior Pharmacists on Thursday, & I'm sure she told me that she got roped into this (she's a 'Denby Dale Traveller')

Yes after a while, with no prior knowledge of the route, following the strip maps becomes a bit tiresome. It is much nicer, and easier to at least have the route confirmed by a runner in front.
