I made a cockup dropping into CP4 too low, but apart from that our route choice was good.

I notice you swept out right after CP3 which presumably was to avoid the climb over the bogs and follow the contours. I took us straight/slightly left deliberately to bring us into the gill high. I tried to drop us into CP3 dead on target but it didn't work and we ended up climbing back up a little way, so with CP4 i went high. Infuriatingly, the direct line would have dropped us in right on top of the marshal!

It's revealing looking at the results, how much my lack of pace and strength slowed us down.

Looking at my route now, we were right on top of the marshall at CP4 before dropping down the stream. Must have lost 2 minutes deciding I was too low. Hey ho.

Yeah, we lost about that much trying to find CP1. Really should have gone to the gill fork and backtracked up the trod that heads up to Hag Dike. As you adequately put it- hey-ho

ooo Wharfee - Can I please have that pic of C & Q for our Bowland blog?

Fab day out, great to get a Bowlands women team together, really enjoyed it, organisation was great, very efficient - Cheers Bingley. Congrats to all who took part, it makes the fell running calendar to be able to run for your club, no matter how knackered you are!

Interestingly, every leg was won by orienteers

Great day out - big thanks to Bingley et al. Loved returning to the fells after a bit of time away (work, baby, injury!) and enjoyed a well designed nav leg. The battles for places was intruiging, but equally, my club (humble little Tattenhall) put out it's usual mens tean but also a ladies team for the first time with 4 fell novices from 6 (i'm sure they wouldn't mind me saying) and they loved it - every moment. If you can cater for the elites and the many handy runners that were there without alientating beginners like our girls, you've done well and have a brilliant event. Thanks again ROs
