Thread: Today's Training

Stark contrast to yesterday where I was worried about my car being dinted by the marble sized hailstones!

Super clear and crisp views out towards Blackpool and up north through the Dales this morning.

Not many people out and about, but I did stumble upon a cavorting couple on the Sabden side of the hill! I was fairly surprised, but they were so engrossed they didn't spot me trotting past only 20 yards away!

I did refrain from shouting over to them 'Bit nippy today eh?'

    Re: Today's Training

Tuesday - 5 miles along the beach at Reighton near Filey, including running up the amazingly steep hill back to the caravan site which was fun after such a flat beach.

Wednesday - 3 miles along what was supposed to be a cliff path but turned out to be rather poor and meandered all over the place before abandoning me at a steep ravine. This resulted in a slightly iffy climb up some very steep (almost vertical) grassy/rocky terrain to find the path before losing it again and being faced with a much longer steep grassy climb in rapidly growing darkness. Quite scary, I knew I couldn't get back the way I had come and couldn't identify a path in the dark so had two options. Continue on uphill and eventually reach the top of the cliffs and thus make my way back across fields, or head towards the beach and risk being faced with a sheer drop before getting there. I opted to go to the top and landed back on the proper footpath, which was a major relief, until I followed it as it went downhill back to where I had been stuck before and now had to risk the other option. Luckily I hit the beach fairly easily and had nothing more dangerous to cope with than a rising tide and wet feet. Not a great run really, and much shorter and slower than I had intended. Lesson learnt, don't try to follow and unfamiliar clifftop path shortly before nightfall (even if you do think it will be clear and well signposted)
