But, Daz would be proud of me, got a bit of guilt and gave it a good clean before the weekend, 2 new winter tyres in place before the Sunday ride, and what an epic. Only 45 miles but a complete joy, nearly 6 mile climb up to the upper reaches of Gelligaer common and a long ridge ride along the tops at about 1500ft for miles, blummin bleak and cold up there and if we had stayed much longer pretty desolate(american werewolf in London type weather). Highlight, a Red Kite soaring around us as we climbed, it doesn't get much better! And the road surface, immaculate throughout, just like a Pyrenean climb. Then, turning just before Fochriw and down a freezing descent to Deri(where they film Pobl y Cwm), then having avoided a nutter in a Corsa by riding off the road(like the motor bike in Local Hero), the 20% Deri climb back up to the moor. Fab, fab, fab descent to Trelewis, shame it was so wet and greasy otherwise we would have ripped down it, up over Trelewis Mt and home. Epic, deserving of many roast potatoes. I have indulged
