I occasionally catch a few moments of her show, Does she really believe that you have to carry a stone up to put on a Cairn, I reckon some one is winding her up and she's fallen for it.WHile I'm on the subject too, that Julia Bradbury bird should be hung, drawn and quartered for what she's done to the hills in the last few years.

I must admit that the charms of Bradbury have wore off. Watched the volcano thing on sunday and I found her constant acting of surprise and fear very irritating.
As for the Zip Wire, I think the right decision has been made. When Mark Weir said it would bring much needed jobs what he mostly meant is that it would bring him much needed cash.

It is a difficult one I know, but I do struggle with the balance between conservation and evangelism.
Agreed - very difficult; if JB is out of order, what about AW's legacy? He himself did not want to see more people in the hills, yet his life's work guaranteed they would come. Like many people, I usually carry one of his books when out walking - but for his books, I doubt I would have visited the Lakes more than once.

And 'more people finding out how nice hills are...?' - there comes a point (well past that point round here too, I can tell you) when teh people finding out how 'nice' it is in Lakeland make it impossible to experience how 'nice' it is in Lakeland. e.g the queue (probably visible from space) of people crocodiling it up Haystacks last year...
Mountain rescue aren't too impressed locally either; they're getting more and more calls along the lines of: "It's not as sunny as it was on TV when Julia did it, and we're tired now. How long til you can get us off?"
Look at a picture book of Cumbria - it's a gorgeous place and then make up your own mind if you actually want to slog it up there... Julia bouncing around on a summit tells nothing like a true story.
