A deer came bounding across the path and a grey heron flew up from the side a little further on as a ran along the bridleway between Hall Lane and Radcliffe Rd this morning. Somehow it's doubly pleasing to see them in such non-remote areas.

A late Wheatear on the summit of Wards Stone today and a Merlin low over the N flank of Clougha.
3 and a half hours out on Bowland and we didn't see a soul!

Andy, I've moved from Harrogate to Edinburgh.

They're in an oak tree in my garden (lots of field mice, I've trapped 21 this month in the garage). It's the first time I've seen an eagle, but they're pretty common up here.

Harrogate was lovely and I made loads of friends on the fell running side of life. Sadly we were only there for 22 months before moving up here. Edinburgh is also very nice. (20 years ago I was a member of Ripon Runners.)

saw a heron this morning, flying low over the road, I'm sure it had a fish in it's mouth but not being a regular on fishermans blues couldn't tell you if it was a Herring or a sprat.
