    Cold breasts

Yep. there you have it. I get cold breasts.

not just cold, it's like I've got an extremely painful chill right inside my breasts and no amount of hugging or warming myself up with extra clothes will get rid of it. I think it may be a combination of sweat making my bra wet and wind chill. but then I've had the same pain just training in the gym without being very sweaty and has also happened on walks. trouble is, I have to wear a really supportive bra - without one would bring on a totally different type of pain. I will try a different make of bra when I come to buy another one, but I'm loathed to do that right now having recently bought 3 at some considerable cost!

and i'm not just whinging about a bit of pain, its pretty much debilitating, takes all my concentration away from running, and I totally lose all enthusiasm and joy for the run. I've tried all sorts to prevent it or speed up recovery, even a long hot shower doesn't remedy it sometimes, it just seems to take a while (what seems like hours) to go.

anyone got any useful (decent, practical) suggestions?
    anyone else suffering in silence?

Have you got a lightweight Pertex running top,if you have not tried one it may make a difference.

Cyclops I know it might seem like a mad idea but couldnt you make use of those handwarmers. Im not going to attempt to describe how you would fit them but im sure they would work. Its just an idea.I could not run in winter without them in my gloves.

pretty much always run with a windproof gilet so wind is off my chest. got a montane featherlite but that's only put on when it's really windy or raining hard, otherwise I just boil...that's the weird thing, I'm not cold, actually get quite hot.

thanks Daz, I have some of the handwarmers and thought today that they should live in my bumbag for use when it happens. think I'll be just fine at working out how to fit them ;-)

Ok I have never suffered from this but I have a suggestion. Could it be that your supportive sports bra is tight and therefore reducing circulation? With a reduced blood flow coldness could be the result.

Having come up with this thought, I'm at a loss as to how you would overcome it. Could your bra be too small? There's a fine line between support and strangling!!!

    P.s. I often have a cold bum!!!

thanks stef, I spent ages getting the bra fitted in a running shop, but I do agree it could be too tight - therein might lie the dilemma!!

ps. my b/f says I have a cold bum too!!!

I strongly recommend you go to Debenhams or M&S if you can; they sell sports bras and fit them. You don't have to buy one on the spot, just get a fitting and a second opinion on size.

Meanwhile, if you come up with a solution to the cold bum predicament I'll be all ears!!!

I'm currently trialling some Norwegian gear for a military website. Brynje make alot of excellent stuff for arctic explorers, runners, skiers and cyclists. It's certainly warm.

Sweat wind chill will make a difference, the body when cold will warm the core before extremities, your boobies are those, a lot of men will notice in cold that there well gentlemen's sausage will shrink in cold/exercise as blood flow will be restricted, to service the core, well that's my fellas excuse.

I wear just sports bra and Lifa in winter with pertex outer.
