I sent my entry off on Saturday so I should be in. How many are staying afterwards for a knees up in the Queen's Head?

We're staying just up the road in Bampton.

Doesn't "Knees up" imply retaining the ability to move your legs? Seems a bit unlikely

I was think more in terms of sitting down with my legs on a plush pouffe.

Sorry to disappoint Nick, but I've got to get home to the family. And you'll be hearing from my lawyer :w00t:

Presuming I make it to the Queen's Head, I'm sure I'll be ready for a beer!

Splatcher, I never knew you cared. I'll make do with a bar stool instead. Just call off the lawsuit, OK?
Seriously though, how can you consider a long drive home in the dark in the middle of winter straight after a tough day out in the hills from dark until dark? I don't think I could do it.

Hank, I'll see you there. You'll probably be there before me, so save me a bar stool if you would. Ta.

    Re: Tour de Helvellyn

I agree about the driving, Britnick, and I live in the Lakes. Last year I rose at an ungodly hour, tipped some porridge down my neck, and then drove tensely through the snow and dark (wife wouldn't be impressed if I wrote a 2nd car off on ice). From Coniston to Ambleside, past Thirlmere and St Johns in the Vale, over the motorway... But it was steadily getting worse and I couldn't afford to get stuck because of an urgent project I was working on, so after a loss of traction a few miles away from Askham I managed to turn round and drive back home. Ended up absolutely knackered and I'd not done the run!

    This year I'll stay nearby.
