Thanks both. Sounds interesting and I may well check it out, but it sounds like it'll be a bit much for the round itself. I think I'll probably recce LR/WWT nearer the time to check conditions and if they're ok, that'll be the option for me. I would go for Foxes Tarn with the traverse at the start if things look dodgy, but only if it were dry. Having tried the traverse last year, for me, it's no safer and definitely no quicker than LR/WWT.

I had a nice friend of a friend give me a rope on broad stand. In the end I completed with a very narrow margin. If I had to go round one of the other alternatives I don't think I would have made it. However, knowing what I do about Hank, I don't think he will have the same time constraints as me!
Anyway, if you have the reccying time, I reckon Mickledore Chimney isdefinitely worth investigating. It could become the alternatve of choice!
Blimey... you were clearly not only suffering on your leg 4, but also delusional! I'll need every minute I can get my hands on to get round, but after your graphic depictions of the terrors of the direct routes up from Mickledore I reckon I'll be giving them a miss.
I agree. I don't think anybody could sway me from Foxes Tarn but I might print out Marks description and carry it with me to read just in case anybody ever tries!

As I said, I had a rope on Broad Stand, but I did hear of someone who had a caving ladder set up - now there's a solution!
3rd December a few from Macc and beyond may well go up for a look at something either on the BG route or Lakes 100, (or possibly the Haworth Hobble route). I'll have my dog so limited a little but she'll do ~15 miles and climbing doesn't phase her. Plans still in a bit of a state of flux, but car sharing on the cards.
Should have my dog too and hopefully a lift, be reet whatever we end up doing.
Hopefully ours'll behave herself a bit better this time!

Hi everyone,Not sure what my plans are for December and the Christmas break for training in the lakes and reccying BG route, but I wondered if anyone else had anything penciled in?
Apart from the above trip on 3rd, nothing planned or likely in December except a day doing the Manx Mountain Marathon route in reverse (Port Erin to Ramsey).
Plans for the third still not set for sure but need to come to a consensus and make a plan... will post here and on the Macc site.
