Clockwise as usual. I'll give it a go. See you when you pass me on the way down to Phoside.
On second thoughts you will probably pass me before the Downfall!

If you aren't Trogging...... maybe you might do this instead!?

KINDER - HELP REQ'D - COTTON GRASS PLANTING

    Sunday 17th June - 10.30 onwards

The National Trust have an ongoing Cotton Grass Planting Project on the barren parts of the Kinder Plateau and they would be very pleased to have assistance in planting infant plants in the black morasses of Kinder. Suffice to say it is an important environmental project designed to restore, protect and preserve the magical landscape of Kinder.

The next planting session will be this Sunday, 17th June 2007; so if you are not having a crack at the Kinder Trog Fell Race on Sunday, this might be right up your grough!!!

If you can help, the meeting point (where the plants are - thousands of the little blighters!) is at the ruined cabin beside the stone flagged pathway, which runs between Kinderlow & Swine's Back, GR (SK) 077866, altitude approx 598m.

Be there if you can, there will be folk around and about from 10.30am till 3pm’ish, you will need to supply your own food and protective clothing for the elements - no specialist equipment required, planting technique will be taught on the day by Shane Bates (NT Warden) and his associates...

There will be plenty of runners passing closeby, waving & gasping en-route to another (hopeful) Trog finish...!

    Thanks

    Andy H

I think I may have.. ahem.. helped to firm the ground around a few of those Cotton Grass Plants. I guess that makes me a helper. Noticed you didn't stop to get involved Andy

    Re: kinder trog

Not sure why they asked us to pass tot he right of the swines back - meant I ended up tramping across some of the new plantings...

As for the race, my legs run out of oomph just after edale cross and I got cramp in both legs when we turned right at the top below south head. Oh well, I thought my OCT training would carry me through, but perhaps it took more out me than I thought!

Thanks to the organisers, nice cheese butties at the end.

So that's where all the cheese butties went

Enjoyed the race so much more than two years ago - managed to get round without colliding with any stiles this time. Thanks to the organisers & everyone involved with the race.
