Last night head torch run we (32 runners) stopped in a barn for a brief rest, roosting on a beam 2ft above our head was a beautiful kestrel looking some what startled so we left as quickly as we had arrived, stunning colours though.

On the bridlepath between Haken Lane and Hall Lane (between Lever Bridge and Moses Gate), a small deer playing peek-a-boo at me from round a tree. After a while it got brave and came out onto the path and took a few steps towards me, stared for a while, then trotted off into the trees on the other side of the path and up the embankemnt. I resumed my run and it ran parallel with me along the ridge for a moment before disappearing.

That is a superb pic Wharfee, where were they at?
Been working out at the top of Eldroth for the last few weeks, and have had a herd of sika deer (smaller but no less interesting) grazing the surrounding fields, the lawn of the property, and even jostling to peer in at the van window as I drove away at dusk, magic.

They were in a field over the back of Long Preston a couple of days ago. Sometimes they turn up on the high tops between Settle and Long Preston. It's quite a nomadic herd.

Barn Owl again on my way to work this morning. Cracking view of it sitting on a fencepost by the side of the road.

I have got a Canon AE1 gathering dust in my drawer. It's a 35mm film camera and the local camera shop said it is almost worthless. The camera I have got at the moment is a cheap point and shoot digital which is ok for snaps but that is all. If I was to upgrade, would you recommend getting a basic body and spending the bulk of my budget on decent lenses.Cheers Mark.
We had a chat about cameras a month or so back....

Owls. Love em. Went to Muncaster Castle a couple of years back and was amazed at how many different types of owls there are around the world. Don't like to see them in capativity really though but they are well looked after.

    Brilliant photo wharfee as usual:thumbup:
