The direct is definitely the route for you Glen, Check it out in the circle race coming soon which we do the direct in reverse.

Re the cramps, I'll be focusing my attention on training for that problem...!

I"m quite keen to try the down and up route this year. Ive never dared do it in the race (have done the race 4 times) but may well do this year, just for the hell of it. Are there any specific lines that are better than others from the knoll to ringing roger, or it is obvious?

Mark, I think the line is to head left of Golden clough. you can go further right to the woods which I think is better running but it is longer and then has more climbing. Ask Daz he's done it in the race. it takes cahoonies though or thighs like Lloyd!!

Well my thighs aren't anywhere near that but i'm quite keen to toughen up this year, mentally and physically and so i think i'll give it a go. Might go and try it out soon, perhaps as part of a run around the whole route, taking in the new route over back tor as well.

It looks like a 600 foot descent and climb over 2k vs a flat, rocky run over 5k - intriguing.... What is the ratio of racers taking the 2 routes, anyone know?

Assuming you mean cojones Ian, then you're clearly talking b*ll*x. Literally b*ll*x: I agree with you, after watching you do the down & up in last year's recce there's no way a mere mortal such as I should have to do that down & up at the end of the race. Of course, if you meant conejos, then you're just talking r*bb*ts.

I didn't get a place unless they allow more people or I can convince them to have a FU23 category... I'm sure I can do well in that if no-one else enters it!!
Ah well, I'll get on the marshal list if all else fails, looks like it'll be a good race with Carl Bell heading down from the Lakes for it.....

I hadn't thought about U23 category, I can do it as it isn't really much extra work.

I have kept back places for people who can demonstrate they can challenge for category prizes and there'll be more info about this on www.dpfr.org.uk/pages/3 in the next couple of weeks. I think the race should be about how quickly you can run the course not how quickly you can download a form and post it! as the list stands today neither Lloyd or Judith have places, which as last years winners is utterly ridiculous.
