Apols guys, I won't be deciding until after another week of leg raises and hamstring curls in the gym, and the half Hebden next Saturday.
I really want to do this, just not sure whether my knee does....grrrrr, I'll show it.
A bit short notice, but I'll have to let you know Monday 23rd whether I'm up for that wonderful Friday 27th.

Cheenis, tyke & I are planning our first recce of legs 3 & 4 on 3/4 March. If anyone wants to join us for all of part of the outing, all are welcome, particularly if you already know the shortcuts! Plan is:
Fri 2nd: dump a car in Keswick, drive to Grasmere YH in 2nd car. We've booked YH beds
Sat 3rd: run up to Dunmail, recce leg 3, run or hitch to Wastwater YH - again we've booked beds. Pub, Nether Wasdale.
Sun 4th: run to the other end of the lake, recce leg 4, hitch from Honister to Keswick, drive home via Grasmere to pick the car up.

Hank, did you say you were out Friday? Just wondering where you're going. I'm off up Steel Fell then out as far as I can get in 3 hours or so, then back. I'll not join you if you are out as I just want to boost my confidence a bit with a good long one on my tod! I was up there a couple of weeks ago and only got to the Pikes then got unsure of the distance to Rosset. It wasnt anything like I recall from Langdale HS and a few previous outings up there, I thought I knew what to expect and it threw me. That and the actually 'peak bagging' taking a little bit of time. I might actually see if I can get over to Esk Pike/Bowfell, then drop into Langdale and back up Dungeon Gill.

Not out today unfortunately, but would be up for a day out round the Langdales, Bowfell, etc some time. If you've got 6 hours, getting from Dunmail to Esk Pike and back is manageable if you come back over High Raise from Stake Pass.

its gone very quiet on here....hope everyones still getting on with it!! Does anyone have a date set yet or are we all still 'pondering'? my trainings been very poor lately, I'm going to have to see how march goes!! I've already had a couple of weeks in April messed up with overtime that I don't think I can avoid.

Still planning and training for May 25th;teatime; steadily and clockwise... 23.59 and I'll be the happiest man in Keswick!

Have training days planned in advance right through to end of April... it only features the bigger days and when myself and AndreaS (another Macc Harrier who is going at the same time) will be getting out. Andrea and myself going to recce Leg 2 on Monday and then have a 20 mile (~4000') or so day round here on Tuesday.

The training schedule is on the Macc forum (Fell -> BGR thread) if anyone wants to join the fun, give me a call.

Done 10,000' a week for the last 3 and besides aches and twinges, it seems to be going OK. Fingers crossed for May!

    Re: BG 2012 Recce's....

I'm still planning for Sunday 3 June. Clockwise with a start time somewhere between midnight & 2am, depending on my fitness & the weather forecast. I'd like to go at 2 with a 21-hour schedule, if I think I'm up to it by then. Support team not yet in place although I've got 3 or 4 volunteers in pace as possibles/probables, mainly dependent on their fitness on the day. Daytime roadside support from Mrs Splatcher & the Splatchettes, although I could do with another car & driver for the Sat & Sun evening support. Mind you, I've not started asking anyone yet! I'm doing about 40 miles/8000 ft a week at the moment, working on stamina & ignoring my slow pace! Leg 3/4/5 recce next weekend (3/4 March) - I'll post separately about that.
