we had friends round last night and I'd drunk too much to drive but doubt if I could have got the car out any way.
Been on Howden Edge this morning really hard work, deep drifts and no trods(apart from the one we put down)

what the article doesn't mention is that a rescue team member was injured in the carry off and needed carrying off himself!!

And what is also not mentioned is that he (allegedly), nevertheless, managed to hop-off behind a rock for a No.2 half way down...at least making the stretcher a little bit lighter after that... :w00t:

some shots! the ringinglow road off stanage

What are the cirumstances that the HPM will change the route? How bad does the weather have to be to cancel?

I'd say the HPM is almost uncancellable and that the weather and ground are 100% guaranteed to be a nightmare each and every year

You'll need Rich to give exact reasons but one reason for sure would be if it is impossible to get a vehicle to snake summit! then you can't set up the check point there, the route has been shortened in the past.

Don't think it's ever been cancelled due to weather - remember doing it in the mid to late 80s in knee deep snow when it diverted to Slippery Stones on at least 2 occassions.....
Just looked it up, 1986 and 1987..........
