If James had misjudged that barbed wire, it wouldn't just have been the cat that got skinned!

That stile was dripping with frigid danger. The fence crossing would have been much safer. The ice-encrusted barbs would have offered little more than a pleasurable tickle to the unmentionables.

The fence wasnt looking so fresh in later pics though. Still i suspect that there were plenty of runners heading back up there after the race to fix it!!

I spotted this too, and panicked at the prospect of DIY, but I think the photo evidence shows that the fence was already broken, and James just chose to cross at the unbroken bit closer to the stile. Correct me if I'm wrong as I will have to arrange for it to be fixed otherwise.

The fence was already broken - I was there on the Friday.

Thanks very much for organising an excellent race in difficult conditions.

Agreed, first time over the stile I glanced down and noticed the state it was in.

Second time i just stepped over the fence instead; the section a bit further along was only about 12" high! It was covered in ice though; clearly been like that for ages and it didn't change between my visits.

Did anyone pick up the (blue Noonstone) buff that I dropped early in the race?

(would appreciate getting this back before Spring!)
