Last night was a bottle of Titanic Stout which was very nice.

i agree. Was surprised to be honest, thought it would be typically bland supermarket fare. It's actually full of body and a complex hoppy flavour with a huge roasted malt backbone that produces loas of chocolate, coffee and licorice flavours.

tonight it's Magic Rock - Magic 8 Ball astounding! 9/10
massive hop profile. grapefruit, mango, passion fruit all balanced out with deep dark malty flavours. find a good bottle shop and buy one (or three) or indeed anything from Magic Rock

Abbeydale Brewery
Ancient Greece 4.4% (Pale) A pale beer with a rounded full-bodied flavour. The aromas are grassy and herby while the flavours are herby with spicy fruits and hints of blackberry and melon. The finish is dry and has a long-lasting bitterness.
Duck Baffler 4.1% (Pale) A pale beer with light, passion fruit and lemon aromas and flavours and a refreshing bitter finish. Made with 100% low colour Maris Otter malt and Citra hops from North America.

Captain Smith 5.2% (mid) A red/brown, full bodied beer hoppy and bitter with a sweetness and roast malt flavour and a good strong finish
Plum Porter 4.9% (Porter) This beer is dark, strong and well rounded; the richness of such a rotund beer is brought to an even keel by the late addition of Goldings hops and natural plum flavouring.
Chocolate and Vanilla Stout 4.5% (Stout) Brewed using Roast Barley and Maris Otter Pale Malt which give a huge amount of rich body to the beer and a generous amount of English North down hops to create a bitter edge, the sweetness comes from the addition of Chocolate and Madagascan Vanilla. It is so rich and opulent that it seems like a pint and a half in one glass!
Iron Curtain 6.0% (Stout) An Imperial Russian Stout brewed using the finest ingredients including roast barley which gives rich body to the beer and a huge charge of hops to give a powerful bitterness.

Thornbridge
Ashford 4.2% (Brown Ale) Floral and berry hop charcters tickle the nose followed by gentle coffee and roast hazelnut aromas. Smooth in the mouth with more roasted malt and coffee characters and a nice dry, toasted astringency and hint of bitter.
McConnels Vanilla Stout 5% (Dark) A creamy vanilla stout with raspberry flavours and a dark, chocolatey, bitter finish.
Pollards 5% (Stout) A coffee milk stout. Huge coffee aroma then the taste is like cold creamy coffee with a very thick mouthfeel.
Jaipur 5.9% (Pale) A citrus dominated Indian Pale Ale, its immediate impression is soft and smooth and yet builds to a cressendo of massive hoppiness accentuated by honey. An enduring bitter finish.
Kipling 5.2% (Pale) Golden blonde beer with an exquisite passion fruit, gooseberry and mango aroma. An initial sweetness and full body are balanced by a lasting grapefruit-like bitter finish.

wow! great selection.
Marble Pint, Castle Rock Harvest Pale, Roosters Yankee and all the Thrornbridge ones would be first on my list.

bottle of Buxton Spa for me this evening before spending 4.5 hours sitting in a white van driving an almost perfect circle round the Peak Disstrict tomorrow. is it better than sitting behind a desk for 7.5 hours?

Washing down a couple of glasses of Malbec with a bottle of Marston's Oyster Stout tonight. Anybody tried it ?

a strong match for guinness but not as good as Titanic and i'd take an Old Peculiar over any of those. But topping pretty much every dark beer i've had was last nights Buxton Imperial Black
