Well done to Alex Whittem (Todmorden) for winning the Wicken Hill Whizz, and Holly Page (Halifax) for first lady.
But neither can do the full series, so the series leader after one race is Andy Thorpe of Halifax Harriers, and the leading lady is Anna Verges of Trafford AC.

James Logue of Horwich RMI won Saturday's Reservoir Bogs, which offered a variety of route choices!, and Stainland Lion's Gayle Benson was first lady.
Andy Thorpe's first place today keeps him in the lead overall in the series, while Jackie Scarf of Calder Valley has now gone into the series lead amongst the ladies.

Today looked an excellent course Bill.
Mrs Staggers Garmin clocked her at 7.5 miles with 1450 feet of ascent.
See is quite and recovering for tomorrow so well done Bill on your choice for today.

Ah alas, its because Claire can't race tomorrow, so she's not in the series.
Since we need so many marshalls to cover the 3 days, with the kids races as well, we've got a policy in CVFR that anyone can marshall one race and run the other two, or they can marshall 2 races one year and then compete in all three next year.
So unless Claire can find a friend to stand in for her, she's going to be doing registration and helping at the finish tomorrow. She says she's even offered free beer but had no takers.
I know, I'm a hard task-master.
I'm glad Mrs Stagger enjoyed the course - or perhaps will when she recovers her strength!
Well, a great three days, as predicted.
Many thanks to Bill and every one else involved. A three day event is such a great idea, pity there aren't more of them - and the three races complement each other so well.
Always cheers me up to see the Springfield Striders raiding party coming all the way from Essex and having a great time. Hope the knee's ok Invisible!

A pity about the timeout on the Reservoir Bogs - I was the last to record a time and I know some of those timed out were upset about it. Not a criticism though - I know that the marshalls can't be out all day. I'd better get fit by next year to ensure I avoid the drop
I had to dash off before the results of the Tittiman so I missed the fall out - I understand some went the wrong way - anyone know what happened?

Missing cut-off times is always an emotive issue, and it certainly led to some disgruntled folk.
The cut-off times were not a disqualification, instead they were a sort-of short course - for the 7 people who got to checkpoint 5 after the cut-off time, their race position was based on the time they got to that checkpoint, and it was intended that that was their finish line.
But for next year, on the suggestion of the Springfield Striders, I intend to have an early start option, so anyone who thinks they may not get inside the cut-off time can start, say 45 minutes earlier than the rest of the runners. How does that sound?
It does of course mean that they'll be navigating from the front and laying down the studmarks for others to follow!
And then I didn't get an easy ride on Sunday either, with 14 people in a bunch taking an inadvertent short-cut. That's the thing - once someone at the front of a bunch goes the wrong way the folk behind are just going to follow along. It sounds as though several of our flags may have been removed or flattened (despite being put out only a couple of hours before the race).
But it always impresses me the honesty of fell-folk. We're competitive within ourselves but hardly any of us look for an unfair advantage. All the people who'd taken the shortcut came to me at the end to say they had. I added 2 minutes to their times, which I worked out as about right based on the time they gained.
