My first time running this but knowing the majority of the route I think I just need to have a look at the Thruscross to Rocking Hall and Storiths to Beamsley Beacon sections sometime soon.
After struggling for the past fortnight with an achilles problem I finally got to do a short recce of the Storiths to BB section today - just an out and back with a variation on the descent from BB to the road. With quite a few stiles/gates + A59 crossing I'd imagine this section being the most 'stop/start' of the whole route (even more so with the cake on offer at Deerstones?!).

Good news is that achilles is fine .

It always used to be that on the section between the A59 and Storiths runners officially took the small road while walkers struggled across fields, stiles etc.

Hmm, that's interesting to note, thanks Alexandra. I'll see what the folk around me on the day are doing, although the road route is that bit hillier and there is the possibilty of being slowed by oncoming traffic given the single-track nature of the road.

The last few years, everyone has gone cross country over the half dozen stiles and ladders, with no option to use the road.

That's what I assumed BL, and will stick to on the day, given the route description. I can however see why people could have been tempted by the road in the past (given its proximity to the A59 crossing) when the route used to go clockwise.

Just to put the record straight, taking the road was not an impromptu response to temptation on the part of runners. Marshalls directed walkers across the fields and runners up the road. It seems fairer to me that all should do the same route.

    Thanks for the clarification Alexandra.

As you say its only fair that all do the same route.

Does anyone know whether the entries are full or if there are entries on the day for this?
