Thanks for a great day out. I really enjoyed it. Now I have to decide whether I will do the real one.

Will twig make a further post on this thread? He is trying to keep his post count below 10.

Pint for 1st person to name all in photo - Forum and 'real' name.

    Swoop you're a star.
I can name them all - but figure some may want their identities protecting?!! - do I still get a pint??

What a fantastic day out. Weather held out for us but got a bit claggy in places. Could whoever swapped my legs for two that don't work please let me have my own legs back!

    More to follow....
Thanks for the photo Dom! I couldn't have posted if I wanted to - Hubbie ran me a bath and handed me a glass of wine I had a hot soak, collapsed on the bed and that was it until 4am this morning when the children decided it was time to get up worst thing was I didn't even drink all the wine

[quote=Marvin;47167] particular thanks to Huw and Paul for guiding us round.[quote]

Ditto - thanks you two! GOd knows i'd still be there in that clag! Thanks for waiting too!

great company and good banter going round

yep i think i was first to reach swoop and therefore should have master member and rescuer on my name, beat that JJ , come on brettsort it pleeease
didnt take to long for colin to come down the scree though after id found him with huw.

funny though , what guided us down was emmilou laughing out loud , she looked a bit shocked when me and colin arrived , at first i thought she was laughing about me having to fetch colin but then realised it wasnt, she had gone a bit red mind so im not sure what had set her off
perhaps she had caught a glimpse of something long and pointy , gable
still sniggering!! Although sunnyside and Twig didn't help matters!!

Perleeese do it! We can tie a long rope and follow each other! I'm SO worried I'm not going to make the cut off

Do you think if I put an appeal out for a guide on the day to get me round it will be against race rules? well it works fr the BGR's

    Re: Borrowdale 07

By coincidence I was out with a mate doing the route starting from the Youth Hostel at Borrowdale. We skipped out the Scafell section, coming down from Esk Hause to Styhead Tarn. Obviously shorter, but quite a nice run nontheless.

Marvin, I've pm'd you for a copy of the route you took.

Coming off Gable in clag was tricky - I'm told there's a fast route off that meets the path lower down to Windy Gap?

Aparently one goes over the tops of Brandreth and then cuts left of Grey Knotts, NOT skirting way to the left around Brandreth?

Any other tips? I spent ages scrolling through all the pages on this thread to find it was mostly about meeting up for the reccie and not about shortcuts etc.!!!

('ll go around again perhaps on Tuesday coming if by any freak chance anyone was around and interested; leaving early morning.)

    Re: Borrowdale 07

one question about the route , well no ive others
i know me and andy was trying to work out why the race route from brandreth takes you left over the stile and arcs round then down to honister.

we seemed to just follow the fence with it on our left cross the end stile at grey knotts, sharp right then just plunder on down to honister.

what does the race route save ??????
