Yeah agreed but on long rides I'd also expect to spend time at lower HRs - maintaining 84% of max for 3-4 hours is tough!
And one of the benefits of getting fitter is that you can maintain higher speeds at lower HRs ...
120km on Saturday round Edenbridge, Idle Hill, Pilgrims Way, Star Hill, Knockholt, Biggin Hill.
Av speed 28kph, av HR about 80% max.

28k to work just tad over the hour mark.
Feeling better in the less wind conditions and the time is coming down.

    Good one Stagger

    Good one Zoot

Yes, keeping a high HR for longer rides is tough, but again, the way to get to racing fitness for me... so it has to be done!

Legs very tired from yesterdays race but the sun was out, so just had a steady ride up & round the Hope Valley to flush the heaviness out

Todays ride to work was a slow, lifeless affair. Ride home wasn't much better, stomach bug's knocked all the energy out of me:thunbdown:

Just back steady. You have nothing to rush for. Let time take its course.

Oh 28k home in the dark this evening. Legs are a little tired.
Roll on wednesday for next session.

    Re: Todays Bike Ride

    What a morning.
I went out on the winter bike to do my 1hour time trial (its 25.3k with 390m ascent)
Blasted it and came in with my best time ever on any bike. 55mis 30secs Average speed just over 27kph
HR average was 84% and max was 94% I have more in the tank I think.
Oh and the biggest surprize was that I downed a couple or 6 beers last night with a couple of Blues thrown in.
    Over the moon
Might go out for a recovery jog after tea.
