Running with Harry my border collie. He knows all of the various 'team stolly' running routes and will sometimes wait at fork in the path, waiting for an instruction, and at other times choose the route he likes best and bash on. He prefers routes with plenty of sticks that can be chucked (although collie mouth sized rocks will do), bogs to bog wallow in or rivers, lakes and streams to be swum in. He loves the hills too of course and especially loves the wind blowing in his face while he stands (poses?) and takes in the view. Every run with him is a lovely little adventure

Starting the descent from the last CP on the Three Shires race, hearing the race organiser on the mega-phone down in the valley. Your legs are absolutely gone and you've had enough, but your reasured that you're almost there!

When your in a race and someone recognises you and gives you a shout. Or even just a friendly walker who steps aside and wishes you well.

I also love running down a steep descent thats covered in thick snow. Knowing that any other time I wouldnt be able to descend as such ridiculous speeds if the snow wasnt there, but having perhaps a false sence of security that if I do fall, it wont hurt.

I also love running in the evenings on a warm summers evening, in just a vest or topless. Be it on the fells or across the fields through the long grass

You read about something on the forum maybe, it tickles your fancy, you buy the map, imagine the mountains and try to visualise the route, you get up there to recce and are struck by the reality of it, then the day comes when you're doing it, and you finish it, and you write about it on the forum, and maybe tickle someone's fancy.

(Was reading the Causey Pike thread. Would like to experience that one day.)

Like the above by Al, by the way! Looking forward to a nice summery evening's run tonight.

Climbing up though low cloud to find the peaks bathed in bright sunshine. When I have been trying to catch somebody in front of me for a while and a fence or gate comes up, as they stop to climb it I vault the gate/fence and pick up a place.

Walking through noisy & smelly Shipley & Saltaire on my way to work & looking up towards Baildon Moors knowing I'll be running over them & beyond in a few hours on my way home.

I was out walking the hound this morning in Settle at 5:45, looking up at the High Hill ridge line backlit by the early dawn light, and it was just a great, great feeling to imagine myself running up there, silhoueted against the skyline. Its a lovely feeling to look at a hill and just 'know' it

Pausing briefly as I climb over a stile to take in the view.

Smiling inwardly as a bloke tries to vault the gate and falls over.

These are a few of those wonderful things...

pint and a mars bar and the crack in pub at the finish of a fell race
pretending your action man or sumut as you run up incredibly steep/rough ground past hikers who are toiling up, and are in awe of you as you woosh past, making sure you dont stop till you are out of sight of said hikers

I love that feeling you get when you finish a run and can look back at all the hill tops you've summited seeing how far you've travelled. That's why I particularly like horseshoe shaped routes.

Jeez Stolly - that's really made me want to get a dog! Not had that feeling since messing about with my black lab/spitz cross as a lad....
