Many thanks to DPFR for a great day out and the many supporters along the route - the cow bells were great. My first Skyline and it wont be the last, expecting to be away next year so 2014 I will aim to return and better my time - fingers crossed.

Found it very hot and I suffer in the heat at the best of the times and the last 4 miles I found my legs very heavy. Next time I will take it a little easier at the start. The views were fantastic.

The 3 hour drive up from London was well worth it. Many thanks guys.

Thanks the DPFR for a cracker. My fifth skyline and at last, great weather. The lack of training opportunities did for me and the wheels departed leaving a desperate final five miles. Still, satisfying stiff legs today after four hours hard labour. Miles away from my pb but who cares - a glorious day out. Same next year please!

Starting to wish I'd put sun cream on now my sunburn is very painful. As one of my team mates put it: "I wasn't sure if I was on Brown Knowl or in Death Valley....

A great day out - so good to be running in sunshine instead of sleet! It really is a tremendous route for good weather - the geography is so good, with the ridges running pretty much all the way round the valley, that the views are great. And of course when you've finished you can just look back up at everything you've just done. One of my favourite races, and thanks to DPFR for immaculate organisation & the friendly feel of the whole event. The heat didn't bother me much, although I imagine I lost a few minutes due to it all the same. I drank only at Hope & Mam Nick, & didn't seem to be too dehydrated at the end. Seven minutes slower than last year, but I was still under 4 hours, and was 123rd - a better placing than last year, so I'd guess most people were a bit slower this year due to the heat. We certainly can't blame conditions underfoot!

DNF for me, i developed a throat/nose infection on Wednesday and still wasn't 100% so called it a day at Mam Nick.

a cracking morning's running, although with the heat it felt like running into a brick wall - when i got a cold sweat i thought it best to knock things on the head!

thanks to DPFR for a great event.

You weren't the guy that was just in front of me that actually had his shoe taken off by a bog in the last few miles and had to hop to safety to put it back on were you?

Water-wise, I had 330ml with me and had two cups at Hope and Mam Nick and that seemed to be plenty enough. I had been drinking water solidly the day before to make sure I was as hydrated as possible though.

A truly amazing day to be running in such a wonderful part of the world.
Good work the Seipp family for the smashing cow bell action:thumbup:. I could hear them coming off Lose Hill!

Basically ditto to all the above reference tghe support and organisation - I think the fact that the results were out the same day says a lot for Ian Fitz and all who supported him on such a big task.

Heat always does me in so I was slower than normal (by about 10 mins - 4 30) but also still learning and probably didn't take on enough fluid in the first half.

But a great day out - even enjoyed being left for dead by the aforementioned lad with the cowbells on the run down the final field.

    Re: Edale Skyline 2012

Thought I had a pretty good run for most of it - seemed to be absolutely flying over Brown Knoll relative to everyone else around me. My knee decided it had had enough by Grindslow Knoll though, so I had to hobble into the finish from there which put a bit of a downer on my day. 3hours 45, which is a bit slower than I was aiming for, but it was my first (racing) Skyline and I never seem to cope very well with heat anyway so not too bothered.

I'll echo everyone else about organisation/marshalling/support - absolutely superb!

Another bunch of photos here (assuming I've got the facebook privacy settings in proper order):

A good day to be out with the camera - probably better than running! Any way yet more photos, this time from near the top of Chapel Gate.
