    Re: Edale Skyline 2012

Just wanted to add my thanks to the organisers for a very well run race. The first fell race that I have 'raced' and much was learned. Not least that it is normal to feel like its time to give up before you get to half way and that most of the rest of the field are feeling the same - so ignore it and carry on!

Apologies to the guy I ran 2 yards behind the whole way across to Brown Knoll. I just couldn't muster the energy to go past. I was wondering at one point if you can be disqualified for drafting in Fell Races but then can you draft at 9 min miling across a bog?

Thanks to the guy with the water on Brown Knoll - much appreciated!

Just managed to break 3.40 despite the fact someone seemed to have double the length of path on Ringing Roger from going up it at the start to coming down it at the end!!!

I think that might have been me, and no need to apologize. I should apologize to you actually for the backward glance of irritation, which I can only explain was the result of too much sun. Good race

Now there is a scam I had two posh gels that cost £1 each and a pack of Aldi Mars bar copies (Titan bars - somebody at Aldi knows their Greek Gods or is it Roman - I don't) They are less than 15 pence each, about 2/3 the size of a mars bar and have more calories than the gels!!

    Re: Edale Skyline 2012

    Awesome day.

    A big thank you to:

    1. The race organisers and marshalls for a superb day.
    2. Each of the people I had the pleasure of running alongside at various steps of the way.
    3. My girlfriend who, despite several pleas not to bother and many better offers to go do her own thing, dutifully walked up Jacobs ladder with a bottle of drink (and my brother for bailing out last minute thus enabling me to have the full bottle and not sharing). I dread to think what state I'd have been in if she hadn't.
    4. Every single one of the people who overtook me between Wool Packs and home and checked upon my wellbeing or provided encouragement as the wheels came well and truly off the wagon - I quite like the suggestion "have I tried running on my hands"!
    5. The bloke who was doing a reverse sweep from RR with a bottle of water and cake.
    6. The chap in the final 100m who graciously let me keep my position.
    7. My kidneys and their salt retaining capabiliities.

And many apologies to that chap who followed me on the wrong line off Grindsbrk clough - most times one would be right in thinking someone in local vest colour ought to know where they were running.

Just off to find some threads on fluid replacement for hot days..........

Rescue Ale went some of the way to restoring body physiology.
