But that is the point... you have your revolution and overthrow the regime. People won't just get along and live for the common good, it's not human nature... this is the message of animal farm. A socialist system can start as an apparent utopia but there will always be people who cheat the system and corrupt it.. it can never work and never has.

I think that there are elements of the system you refer to that are worthwhile and that work, i'm not much of a polytishun so you'll have to forgive any apparent naivety. Stalin seemed to favour putting prisoners to work in some cases, for example building the Road of Bones, which to me is better than housing/feeding them and giving them Sky TV. I also feel the concept of in-house production of consumables is better than importation, and leads to a good work ethic which is fast dying out it would seem. Like Nik says though, Socialism has never actually worked dispite looking vaguely promising.

Could you give me an example of 'Carlos' Manifesto for change'? Some sort of timetable for the smooth conversion of the UK to a Communist nation stage by stage. I don't mean to be blunt, but you sometimes rant a bit and it's difficult for me to get a handle on what you think is a suitable situation.
