I've entered this but my partner's ill and unlikely to be fit enough in time. Anyone know if it's possible to swap to a different partner? Or alternatively, does anyone have an email address for the organiser so I can ask them direct, the only contact details I can find on the website is a snail mail address.
I swapped with someone last year and joined Bob the dog after his partner pulled out late on. I dont think it was a problem and I am sure John (BTD) can point you in the right direction. I still wear my T shirt with pride for a great day out.
I don't think there will be a problem swapping partners. You could send a message to the organiser via the Achille Ratti club. ydt

They may even be able to help find a new partner. I searched high and low and then went for a bit of internet speed dating and that is how Simon (Corniceman) and I got together and had a fantastic day out in less than fantastic conditions.

Thanks. Yes, the guy that's "thinking about it" meets the criteria almost as well as I do - no cat A fell races, but lots of mountain marathons instead. All I've got to do is get him to commit before he thinks too much and realises what a daft idea it is
My partner has also pulled out, as has her replacement. It seems that flaky characters outnumber the stalwarts. I don't hold out much hope, but I have been surprised before...
If there is a dependable character who thinks they may remain healthy up to 19th May, who is not clumsy or injury prone, who doesn't have an over-active and intrusive social life, who really wants to participate in this magnificent event and is willing to put up with a misanthropic churl for 8, 9, 10 or 11 hours in the Lake District, then feel free to PM me.
Otherwise I'll notify the organiser of my withdrawal and I'll be that bloke who you might pass who set out half an hour before you doing the course on his own!

I think I am right in saying that that is the toughest one, but even if I make it I wouldn't rule out missing the Cockley Beck cut-off or the 12 hour finish

I think you could surprise yourself Daz. I did this as my first fell race in 2010. I'd started running the year before to run the Snowdonia marathon for charity and that was my only previous race. It was a baptism of fire (literally in the heat) but I did manage to get round. It was tough (I usually describe it as 30 mins of realisation, followed by 11 hours of hell) and at the time I didn't enjoy it at all, but I look back on it quite fondly now. I've got fantastic memories of the race and it's still my favourite mountain day ever. Go for it!

The Cockley Beck cut-off is the tightest. It's likely that if you only just make Angle Tarn then you'll be timed out at CB. If you make CB you've got plenty of time to get to the end, so think of it as a race to get to CB for the cut-off, then you can slow down after that. We had 30 mins to spare at AL, only 12 mins at CB in 2010. I found the worst bit the Grey Friar climb after CB - the worst hour of my life, so far.......
