You can't get out much in them
I don't. They were bought in 1983 specifically for racing XC in the Gruenewald in Berlin (little stipply sole). Also good on sand and snow.
The original sole started to peel away at mile 23 in the Blubberhouses 25 a couple of years ago. This caused me to slow down so much that Jez nearly caught up with me (but not quite, ha!).

Lovely sunny day in Jockland. Good luck to all 3P'ers.

Some strange results throughout. Looked like times were comparable.. winner 2:55, winner 2011 2:53.. and that was Tom Owens, who was a lot slower this year.. some very good runners slower than you'd expect. Top 10 times were similar 2011 - 2012.. last year it was dry but fairly warm, this year it must have been wetter underfoot..

I was at the road shouting at people, from what i can remember...

    1 Joe Symonds
    2 Carl Bell
    3 Rob Baker
    4 Ricky Lightfoot
    5 Karl Gray
    6 Andy Davies
    7 Rob Jebb
    8 Tom Owens
    9 ?
    10 Graham Pearce

Good runs also from Mounsey and Watto, Watto got pipped in the final 50yds by someone who may have been Andrew Jebb.

    Re: Three Peaks Fell Race

It was bloody windy and as a consequence was real chilly. It was carnage on the top of Whernside with the charity walk and the Fellsman going on as well. I felt a tad sorry for the runners as they may not have had a clear off. I bailed off the top and was at the gate at the base of Whernside and the runners looked great today. I went up the race route of Whernside this morning, bananas...I am in awe of you guys and gals who can go this. Me? I am just trying to qualify. Who knows.

Underfoot conditions seemed to make little difference imho. It's so bloody rocky that there were only a few squelchy bits and very few boggy spots to slow us down (with the honourable exception of the leg-swallower at the foot of whernside!) It was the wind - especially in your face all the way off ingleboro to horton - that slowed many down. Tho somehow I was faster. Go figure! Great day as usual Thx to all organisers and marshalls Seamless!
