Underfoot conditions seemed to make little difference imho. It's so bloody rocky that there were only a few squelchy bits and very few boggy spots to slow us down (with the honourable exception of the leg-swallower at the foot of whernside!) It was the wind - especially in your face all the way off ingleboro to horton - that slowed many down. Tho somehow I was faster. Go figure! Great day as usual Thx to all organisers and marshalls Seamless!

There were some exceedingly muddy runners coming through, although more curiously the walkers appeared to be muddier than the runners. Weren't they on roughly the same route??

Decided - very much last minute - to go for mudclaws in the end; no regrets. Was far wetter than any of the previous 4 years. As for the headwind between PYG and Whernside ....

You can't beat that turnaround at the top of Ingleborough & greeting from a gust of wind. Great day, throroughly enjoyed it.

Wasn't it pretty windy last year to? Mud caught me out today though so it was an early return to the finsh for me.
It was good to watch the end for a change. Would have been better to finish mind!!

This was my 4th in the last 5 years.

It was the toughest. The brick wall wind was against you all the way up PYG and then also partially on the run off. It was then across you for much of the run to Ribblehead and all the way down off Ingleborough.

Up Whernside, it was from the right, my right leg went numb by the top and the only help the wind gave me was blowing me down Whernside.

It must have been gusting to force 8 at times.

I can't believe the leaders times. I really wouldn't have expected anyone to break 3 hours today. Besides the wind, it was squelchy in parts and the run of Ingleborough was treacherous although perhaps us tailebders got worse underfoot conditions as 500 had already passed by.

I didn't know about the charity walk, but I did find more ignorant walkers out there today than in any of the other races. They usally took the best lines and walked 3 or 4 abreast taking up the whole track.
There was one guy towards the top of Whernside. I doubt he should even have been there as it's not a public right of way, but he was in the way.

I was also part of a group that was held up as a rescue helicopter landed just off the summit of Whernside. I hope the casualty is OK. Not sure if it was a runner or not.

Thanks to all the marshalls. I wouldn't have liked to have spent 3 hours on Ingleborough today - although the views were unbelievable.

I'm just happy to have got around today - that was tough.

Great day out and knocked 18 mins of my previous time, many thanks to the lady playing the tin whistle on the approach to Ingleborough, made me smile for long enough to forget the encroaching cramp.

well I finished with a PB (only by 4 minutes) and I have done the last 5 years and agree this was the hardest. this is the fittest i have been for a 3 peaks and whilst I still cannot break the time i wanted i am sure I would have gone backwards if I was not as fit.
Impressed with Carl Bell and he is sure to be a multiple winner of the future, spoke to Robb Jebb as well after the race and he is a super guy but prefers the harder races or two wheels. agree with above post as to how they did those times today.
right training starts tomorrow for next year!!!
