I haven't done the race before so I'm going to have a jog up and down on the Friday about midday.
Don't over do it on the friday Swoop. Even jogging down Snowdon will effect your legs for the Saturday race. I have a number and at the moment intend to run.

    Re: Snowdon

I have also had confirmation I am in for the Snowdon race. I did this race last year on a very warm sunny day it was a hell of a race to do. I agree with Roadrunner I don't think jogging up and down the day before may be a wise move. The climb up is very tough and as for the decent this just sends your legs to jelly. Good luck if you plan a recce the day before.

    Dear Runners
Again this year Cwmni Da Television Company is responsible for the broadcasting of the Snowdon Race 2007 for S4C and will be co-operating with the race committee to ensure its success.
The race will be broadcasted on S4C an hour highlight programme-which is on terrestrial channel 4 and freeview in Wales and Sky Channel 135 throughout the UK on Sunday evening, July 29th.

As I myself am not a runner and so have never run the race before, I haven’t a clue what you as runners are going through during the race.
We hope to be able to show the viewers that are watching the programme how hard the race is, especially various parts.

What I would like to know is which sections are the hardest during the race? We want the viewers at home to be able to feel the agony that some runners go through during the race. I understand that Allt Moses(The steepest part) is the hardest part of the race aswell as the tarmac at the bottom- As runners how hard are these sections for you?

If anybody could spare a few minutes to take me through the pain, agony and enjoyment!!! and let me know what parts are the hardest during the race, I would be very grateful.

All the best to all the runners with the trainning and the race itself

    The uphill bits

The downhill slippery bits just before you fall arse over tit taking chunks out out of your hands and knees, always makes the walkers laugh! Failing that get back to the first aid tent if you like blood and gore.

    Re: snowdon race 2007

I did this race last year and yes it is up and down, coming down is more difficult than going up in my view. Pretty sure this race has been full for a month or two now. Of all the fell/mountain races you can do in this country this is probably in with a shout of being one of the most dangerous particularly on the downhill section as a number of people have found out in the last couple of years. Hence the big issue about giving your number away etc.

    Re: Snowdon

Here's few pointers on the climb up :

    1. Nice flat and fast tarmac section followed by an appx. 1km v. steep climb up the tarmac up to the giat mynudd - v. tough section to start, all the more so due to fact that it's the start so hard not to go too bloody fast!

    2. From Giat Mynudd up to Giat Hebron - a little gentler but track path become much rougher in recent years

    3. From Giat Hebron to Halfway station - time to put the foot on the throttle, gentlest section thus far, would be hoping to be pushing nice and hard here. Once again path become very rough here,

    4. From Halfway to base of Allt Moses - as above really, a little steeper though but should still be fast.

    5. Allt Moses to start of Allt Goch (or Clogwyn station), one of toughest sections so far, steep and tough...........in my mind made easier in the last year by the stone pitching work the National Park fella's have been doing there - appx 100m's thus far.

    6. Allt Goch to Cairn (where Allt Goch slope levels out), in my view quite possib;y the toughest section, in particular coming immediately after Allt Moses.

    7. Cairn to Summit Cairn - not too bad, a chance to open the stride out and pick up the speed, track pretty good for climbing here aswell, as you get closer to summit becomes a little tougher, rockier and goes on and on!

Hope this helps - I'm sure most people on this forum would know it a lot better than me mind you!

    Champion ag diolch yn fawr!

    Re: Snowdon

Get that nutter with a head cam to film some of it for you!
TV needs dynamism to make it work. the mad thrash of the first 2 miles up will work. The toiling grind the rest of the way will be hard to visualise. getting shots of runners trying to run the last section to the summit cairn will be good value though! Where the action hots up is the rough rock bands on the descent below Clogwyn. Here, a combination of speed, knackeredness and rough underfoot conditions should make for some good footage. In terms of pain, that last mile or so down the descent is pure agony, so go for facial shots here! And be sure to go round at the finishing line getting runners to take their shoes off to show the 'orrible blisters!
