A huge well done to "Meiri Caz". He really suffered with the heat on the Arenig/Rhobell Fawr leg but showed lots of grit and stuck to his task; he certainly came good on the Arans & Dovey legs. A brilliant 24 hours in great company .... and the Welsh weather too? The sky was such a solid blue that you could have cut it into strips and taken it home for wallpaper .... probably not what Caz had been hoping for?
Well done, you certainly earned that one and deserve the victory.

Yes well done Caz. You dug in well on the Arenig - Rhobell Fawr leg and showed real character. Brilliant stuff and a pleasure to be a small part of.

some photos of that leg here.

Great achievement Caz! I'm delighted for you: the heat must have made it heavy going at times. Who's next then?

    Re: Meirionnydd Round.

What can i say?........Yes, what can i say?...... Firstly, saying 'Thank you' to all who drove from afar, gave up their time and who pushed me through where i don't think i'd ever been before physically and mentally, just doesn't say enough. Yes, i'm thrilled to have finished it, but in the end i was doing it for all you guy's who were willing me on with encouragement, and my nosh bags. How could i let you down? And the thought that Yiannis would still be the only completer under 24hrs! I just had to keep going.

Secondly i'd like to say a big thank you for all you comments of good wishes and congratulations of this challenge. I knew it was going to be a toughie, so why did i think it was going to be any different? Hope, i guess. As for the round itself? It's a beauty, but it's also bloody hard, physically, and mentally. Not sure about your comment Yiannis'I am confident that Caz will prove that the Meirionnydd isn't as hard as some people suggest ydt' Yeah, right!! Certainly not for the faint hearted, but a serious challenge for somefolk who should have a go at it. It definitely deserves more attention than it's had. Hopefully it won't be too long before someone else is up for the challenge??

We hardly saw anyone all day even in glorious weather which goes to show how wild this round truly is. The only place we saw a couple of walkers was when we were on Arenig Fawr!! And that's it. Oh, and apart from the startled lone walker whom we ran past coming down to Bwlch Oerddrws. Now there's not many rounds where you hardly see a soul.

I didn't find the heat too uncomfortable either which was a big worry for me on the Friday. The 'Mighty Hat' saved the day again. I cannot understate the hat. I kept having it swiped from my head and dunked into the streams for a good soaking, and straight back on again. It was like having a cold shower! Maybe inov8 will sponsor me to be their....hat wearer? Free hats ahoy. Their hats don't come close to the £3.99 one i bought on Pendine beach shop. "Big up to the beach hats"

I'll write a brief account soon of the 'day', but for now still need to.....rest! Not sure why?

    Thanks again.

    Caz 'The Mighty Hat'
