Just thought I'd ask what other folks experiences have been regarding durability. I've put about 300 miles on mine (about 190 of those have been ultra races) and while they've been comfy and grippy, the uppers are beginning to fall apart.
Yes, they have had a hard(ish) life but they seem to be faring worse than my normal trail shoes. Perhaps no big surprised considering the price but I usually get at least 500 miles out of trial shoes.
I've got about 300 on mine and they are holding up really well. However, I never got on with them in muddy conditions so they only got an airing on dry runs. Tread is going though.
Got about 12 hours out of mine before the uppers started falling in bits, you get what you pay for IMHO.

For dry ground they are fine, but any sort of wet, muddy ground they have litttle or no grip, i mean ice skates is the nearest i can come to describing them.
One race i was doing was only about 5.5 mile and after 200 odd people have ran the course once the second lap was pretty muddy and slippy, going uphill i nearly had to run "off the course" to get some sort of grip, very scary running full pelt downhill knowing the shoes wont stop you :thumbup:
Anyhow, bought some proper XC shoes(X-talons 212s) and the differance is huge, never again will be racing in those kanadia shoes,
Ow yer, on a plus side, they are VERY GOOD snow shoes, helps you get found if you fall over in the snow with their bright colours.
I use them as a Trail shoe, not surprisingly, and they have lasted nearly 1500 miles with little sign of wear and tear.
All I can think is they must have changed the construction as I have the opposite experience. My and my daughters original mk 1 Kanadias have done so much mileage as to be worn out completely on the sole but the uppers are fine. I really liked them as they felt neat on the foot and were a good overall shoe brilliant at nothing but good enough for everything. I have held the newer models which seem more clumpy in the mode of trail shoes, so was put off buying.

Sorry to drag this thread back up from the depths, but at least I made the effort to search for it!
Looks like Adidas have changed the tread pattern on the new TR5. It looks like a step backwards to me, as it resembles the sole from the first two versions, which weren't very grippy. The more studded sole on versions 3 and 4 made it a decent shoe.
Time to get some version 4's cheap while you can!
Like Swoop my two pairs, one Kanadia 3 (bought 2010/2011) and the other Kanadia 4 (bought 2011/2012) are both going strong up top (obviously the mini-studs are wearing out gradually). I dont know how many miles I've done in them but tend i tend to use one or other of them for 30%-50% of training runs to they are a staple in my quiver-bag.
On Jimmy's advice I am looking (sharpish) to buy another couple of pairs of K4 at circa £35 each for use over the next 12-24 months.
I've only seen photos of the 5's, but you can tell that they've changed the sole design.
Has anyone actually seen them in real life? it's hard to judge from the photos whether they've spoiled them or not...
