Looking forward to this one on Wednesday! Travelling down straight after work.
Am I right in thinking that, as far as the R turn below Moel Famau summit, the route is nearly the same as a section of the old Loggerheads race?
Is there a post race social at a local hostelry?
How traily is this? I've been up the gully and up rough ground is OK.. from then on is it trail running?
First few minutes are double-track, the whole of the descent from Famau is fast (cough) and open. Is the gully not miserable enough Iain?![]()
Cheers, I've a foot with not much stability at the moment so wouldn't mind a traily fell race, but anything like going down that gully would be a no no.. walking up such terrain is no issue..
Ah, thought you were thinking it'd be too easy. Couple of steep but grassy descents before the gully. Rough map...

Great, may consider it. cheers Iain
Yes, first descent to base of Moel Gaer very grassy and steep and easy to fall but not at all technical. After the gully it's just tracks all the way down
I should be there - not done this one before. I've decided to do a few short fell races for a bit of light relief after my BG. They really hurt, since I'm not used to running fast! There'll probably be a few from Helsby, as it's one of our counters this year.
