    Re: midsummer madness races

I think I managed to strain/cramp? most of the muscle in my right calf after sticking part of my foot in a hole descending from Midgeley Moor to CP3 on the Bogs route today. As soon as I felt my whole weight going forward on them I knew it wasn't going to end well . It’s so swollen now it actually looks like a proper fell runner’s calf . Thanks to all those runners who stopped or checked with me when they went past. Arriving at CP3 to say I couldn’t continue I found Manhar marshalling there who gave me the good news that he had a car close by and could give me a lift back . Cheers Manhar and thanks Bill and all the CVFR team of helpers for putting the race on.

It put my woes in perspective though when I saw the flood damage on the way back! As well as the serious damage in Mytholmroyd/Hebden Bridge the road from Bacup to Gauxholme was practically a scree slope in parts as was Whitworth Road dropping down into Rochdale.

Enjoy the Hog roast (how about a veggie roast next year ?) and band if you're of to the pub.
Great checkpoint Manhar (you needed Avon Skin So Soft for the midgeys) and lovely to 'meet' you! Leading the pack was hard but we carried it well I thought

Totally agreed on a veggie roast - maybe we should have our own  ?!

Is there any photos posted anywhere yet, as it looked like there were a few photographers dotted around towards the end.

I saw Dave and Eileen Woodhead on Saturday, their photos will be on www.woodentops.org.uk I presume.

There are some photos from today on the CVFR website on the Tom Tittiman race page, along with the results.
