    folk clubs?

I have been invited to a folk night this weekend. I don't really fancy it at all. Apparently there is a live band on.

I Just know it's going to be a nightmare, something like the bloody Westhoughton Weavers, singing such traditional favoutites as the Heywood Pig Castrators Daughter, Ho down merry down with a hey noony fol de rol doo dey and Where's Me Pewter Tankard.

Don't go if you dislike the thought so much. Nobody is forcing you, I would think.

I had a ceilidh for my 40th birthday, absolutely brilliant night. There was only one present (book tokens) that was not beer related. I have got to re-evaluate my life

Anyone remember the Davies and Metcalfe Folk Club in Romiley? Lots of big names such as Mike Harding, Billy Connelly, Bob Hoskins before they were famous - the place used to be packed to the rafters - must habe been a couple of hundred in every Friday night.

Some cracking folk bands about Danbert, go along and just go with the flow. You may even find yourself enjoying it!
There's lots of modern folk bands about. If you ever get the chance, go and see a couple of guys called Show of Hands - brilliant!

PB are you often seen in clogs garlanded with ribbons and bells moving in a succession of intricate steps and spirited hops?
