Please can anyone suggest an insect repellant that works? I want it to use in the Southern French mountains, if that makes any difference (no midge there). PS I did try to search for this but nothing came up.

I think it's a personal (skin) chemistry thing. SSS works great for me but I have friends who find it useless. Worth a try though.Which is wrong. I've tested it under extreme midge conditions
I also sometimes use OFF! (Skintastic) but it contains DEET (as do most) so I do so sparingly (if you've ever spilt products with DEET in on a plastic lined toiletry bag you'll know why!) - it's also a bit sticky.
If it works for you, it works against everything in my experience - but I've never been to S. France!
Which one ? The Avon site is a mans worst nightmare.
