Howgills are my favourite running area
Not sure where the courses went on the previous KIMMs there. It's quite a small area for a MM - the RAB managed it recently, but that's Score only which makes it easier. Plenty of scope for using adjacent areas - Wild Boar Fell, Mallerstang, Baugh Fell to the east, Dentdale, Barbondale, Whernside to the south.

Howgills = lots of contouring!!! Better pack the compeed for Saturday night!

Fabulous area for competing in, should be a great event which to be honest we're long overdue after suffering the last few years of events which have all been a terribly sad disappointment in some form or another due to elements beyond the runners control, but strictly within the organisers control. Hope they get it right this year and give us one to remember.

Nothing wrong with last year's OMM - the best I've done (with the possible exception of 2008!)

Course-wise i'd have to agree, but the food availability & quality before & after was an absolute joke - given they seem to have run Wilf's (or whatever it's called now) out of town i'd say they have more of a responsibility to sort it properly.

2009 - waiting for bus at the end was ridiculous and potentially dangerous if the weather had turned nasty, plus regardless of weather sitting on a road for an hour+ waiting for a bus at the end of 2 days was unacceptable
2010 - Most ridiculous courses i've encountered in any MM, end of day 1 was a disgrace and if that's down to OOB restrictions, that's no real excuse for not using the avilable area better.
2011 - Fantastic courses, event well thought through apart from the food, and the fact that the resident business were going apes**t as us being there!!

Wilfs sold their event catering business to Scotts, who have gone out of business, most events have been struggling to find caterers. Wilfs temporarily came out of (partial) retirement for the LAMM, I think they may be at the OMM this year as well.

Joy!! Would love to see Wilf's back!!

I didn't see Scott's at all last year, which would be explained by them going out of business.

They were stuck in the car park in 2010 which was a shame.

Was there in 1988. Washed out at the end of the first day, after having to wade up a literal river of mud - ended up eating egg and chips in the motorway services at about 8pm, thinking that if we'd carried out we'd have been trying to eat PotNoodle in a swamp- best call we ever made!

    Bring it on:thumbup:

Oh aye and talking about food , anyone else think the food on offer after The Saunders was dire...glad I didn't really need anything. I'd have died waiting and then couldn't eat it. Also told tea was on ration...WHAT

These events really need to rethink their feeding strategies...I would go for thick veg soup, rolls and loads of tea and cake myself...warming, got calories and salts and above all should be possible to just spoon it out QUICKLY
