Hey Steve! Good luck, might bump into you somewhere along the way, I'm doing the 50.
Pity there's no sago or other frogspawn type delicacies on offer at the checkpoints!

Well I will be there to see the L100 runners off and then food, few beers to prepare for the L50 on the Saturday. I will be staying over in Ambleside on the Sunday evening as there are more pubs with plenty of real ale to be had!

There have been problems during a recent large-scale running race in Coniston. Please be specially considerate about parking and noise at night.

And have a great time - the Lakeland 50 & 100 are superb experiences!

Went down to recce Tilberthwaite to Coniston yesterday. Actually checked a bit further too i.e. from Little Langdale. The bit out of Tilberthwaite is quite a decent climb after fifty miles let alone a hundred!...and the drop down into Coniston for the 100's will be thigh breaking I suspect. If you're goint through at night care needs to be taken after crossing the small waterfall and contouring round to the more open fell. The open fell is not too distinct a path! Also when going up the first bit out of the CP, after the steps, take care in the dark as there are several quarries to the left which are open and deep!! Looking forward to it now!!

the drop off to the right from just after the quarries up to around the big cairn is pretty spectacular and certainly not a good direction to stumble in with tired legs in the dark :w00t:

I've been freaking out the last couple of days at the possibility of a race day scorchio, a prospect that hadn't even occurred to me in my training. Every long run for as long as I can remember now has been in the pissing rain. So I'm quite relieved to see 15C and heavy rain forecast for saturday. Sorry if that sounds curmudgeonly but I don't do well in the heat. I'm quite nervous, never run 50 miles before, but also kind of looking forward to it. And to getting back to some days out climbing afterwards. Good luck to all you 50 and 100 kids
