Posted on the Lakeland 50 forum but no response so thought I would ask here. I'm travelling from Newton Stewart in Dumfries & Galloway on Friday morning down to Coniston. All being well I should arrive in Coniston about 17.00 provided I make all the connections - various trains and buses. Slightly concerned that may not happen which would leave me stranded somewhere. Wondered whether anyone is going to be in Carlisle during the afternoon who could give me a lift to Coniston. Please email [email protected] if any possibility of a lift. Cheers

I've been freaking out the last couple of days at the possibility of a race day scorchio, a prospect that hadn't even occurred to me in my training. Every long run for as long as I can remember now has been in the pissing rain. So I'm quite relieved to see 15C and heavy rain forecast for saturday. Sorry if that sounds curmudgeonly but I don't do well in the heat. I'm quite nervous, never run 50 miles before, but also kind of looking forward to it. And to getting back to some days out climbing afterwards. Good luck to all you 50 and 100 kids

Good Luck paulo, not be long before your celebrating your longest ever run:thumbup:

erm...I might be able to help!? Not too sure at the moment tho' as I might be calling in Keswick for a wee drink with relatives/friends of the wifes on the way down. I live just outside Carlisle. I'll email you if I can sort something!!

that-fjell-guy, thanks for the (potential) offer. Thinking that there wouldn't be any offers I decided to leave a lot earlier tomorrow morning which means that if I miss one connection there should be another a few hours later. It'll be a pain but it should mean I get there eventually. Thanks again.

Hope you've doing ok on the trains, as there's been massive delays this morning due to a signalling problem at Carnforth.

See you all in Coniston tomorrow.

    Re: Lakeland 50

If anyone needs last minute accommodation on Friday and/or Sunday nights, a single room has become available at Orchard Cottage, not far from the start. Tel No. 01539 441319.

I'm more ill than I've been in years so there's no hope I'd be able to even start. Have a great weekend everyone. It's looking to be a good one. I'll be thinking of you all and following on-line.
