To make it crystal clear this is the moment they were DQd. As you can see Pendleton below has jumped the gun and crossed the finishing/250metre line before Vanish finished her lap.
OK, fair enough I'll take your word for it. But it doesn't quiet tally with what is described in the UCI rules.

The regulations are confusing, but in practice it's very simple. Typical of sports administrators really!!!

I agree. I think the rules imply that the following rider can overtake the leading rider anywhere between 15 metres before and 15 metres after the start/finish line.

The leading rider can continue to lead for 15 metres after the start/finish line (they won't but they can), but the following rider cannot overtake until after the leading rider has completed a full lap. They must complete a whole lap!!!!!!!

If you watch how the men do it you'll see them drive through the line and swing up.

I have never liked the way the medals table is set up so that a country with 1 gold only can be higher than a country with 0 gold and 10 silver ?
I think they should do it on a points basis say 5 points for a gold 3 for a silver and 1 for bronze.

Then if you compared the old system with the new one then not only do Japan/Australia get big boosts for all their silver and bronze medals but (purely coincidentally ) GBR goes into 3rd place

I have far too much time on my hands

That's the first time I've watched sailing. It was pretty incredible to see how he used his position and the wind to screw that Danish sailor!!!

So a 15 year old American girl has won Gold at a swimming event?

I wonder if that American coach will openly accuse her of doping
