All was well on the way up - walked a fair bit- think I couldve ran more but it's hard to resume running once you've walked a while.

All went wrong on descent (as usual). Lost about 4places on way down skiddaw due to being too careful. Then another few on descent around Latrigg due to my feet hurting so much. Blister under each big toe, one heel blistered and two very tender heel pads. I dont think I'm gonna be able to use Walshes, they seem too soft (although this race featured quite hard, rocky ground most of the way, I'm sure boggy, grassy ground would be better).
What was the problem with your Walsh shoes - too tight, loose, wide?

Sunday - did the Bewl 15; four fifths off road round Bewl reservoir and surrounding hills. Very muddy and great fun: 1.44.05 and 48th out of 450ish. Off to the gym this evening.

    Cheers - Raymond

    Re: Today's Training

Did 5 hill reps up to Darwen Tower from a gate a 1/4 of the way up

    5 * .5mile 320ft = 2.5miles 1600ft

    plus 2.5miles back down

    5miles 1600ft in total

Need to start feeling confident about running uphill again.

    Might try 6 next week.

Emmilou and I did 1¾ hours on Winter Hill this morning.
About 7 or 8 miles and numerous river crossings!
Never seen so much water! It was cascading down into Horwich.
The road was flooded outside the Great Barn.
Cleaned my shoes up a treat. Just got to dry them out now!
