Thread: Today's Training

    Re: Today's Training

What would life be if we had no courage to attempt anything?

I keep repeating that to myself as I am trying to master the front crawl. I didn't think it would be so difficult! I must of spent 4 hrs over the last week trying to move forward instead of backwards whilst learning how to kick properly. I actually moved forwards 10 mts today, result!!!!! Spent 1hr 40mins in pool and 2.5 hrs on the bike this afternoon. I've done a fair bit of cross training including some running since the L100. My legs feel fine now I still have problem with my left knee when I run but it is getting slowly better.

Steve - good to see that you are getting back into your running.

Hhhmmm, Sounds to me like someone preparing to do some Triathalon? I've just made discreet enquiries about swimming lessons to improve my front crawl technique.

I'm afraid not - I was doing a shortened version of the haytor hurry route from here http://www.run-dartmoor.blogspot.co.uk/

I did meet you (i think) somewhere over by fur tor about 14-15 months ago though when I was walking all of the dartmoor tors for charity. I managed to complete the challenge for what it's worth.

    Re: Today's Training

This last week’s training has been pretty intense by my standards, last weekend we had our clubs “Festival of running” this is a three day event which comprises of running on all different types of terrain.
Friday:- 1 mile race on the track, I struggled a bit we had some runners over from Dumfries running club and Dumfries Harriers, I think I finished about 6th or 7th. 25 minutes later we did a cross country run, I did better and came 2nd in that.
Saturday: - 6 mile road race, I came second again.
    Sunday: - 3.5 mile Hill race, keeping consistent I came,yes 2nd.

As the event is age graded I came 3rd overall, pretty happy with that.

Tuesday:- A run up Skiddaw, saw a few local runners on there looking like it was a club training session, was that anybody off here?
Wednesday:- In the morning ran to the railway station then to work 10 miles with pack and the same again back home in the evening. 20 miles in total.
Friday:- In the morning ran to the railway station then to work 10 miles with pack and the same again back home in the evening. 20 miles in total.

Thinking of doing Skiddaw again on Sunday.
