    Not so early now...

    Any more for any more?

Good job your memory knocks the sharp edges off things else you might never do a fell race again. My memory's currently telling me Wetherlam is a little hillock, a few feet of soft bracken and you're at the top, wave a cheery hello to the marshals and it's all downhill from there. Sounds about right.

I will be there. I love this race for some reason. In Langdale YHA night before.

Went for a recce of this yesterday. Beautiful day in Little Langdale. Still failed to find:
    a)best line up to Wetherlam
    b)best line off Blisco.

Took ages what with lots of navigational pontificating and discussion but well worth a recce. Knackered afterwards so think I will find the race tough.

    Re: Three Shires

I wouldn't worry too much about the line up Wetherlam Matt, every time I go up there I seem to find a different line. On race day the bracken will be well flattened and the line well-defined. As for Blisco, well, as you probably found there are a couple of rocky steps off the summit that make it hard to get the right line. The trick is to head back South across the summit plateau but trending left, through the "gap" then hang a hard left. I recall there is a big square stone that I use as a marker down onto Wrynose fell and the runner's trod.

I came a proper cropper here last year and although I finished OK spent the evening in A & E. Looking forward to making amends this year (i.e. staying on my feet!)

    Martyn

p.s. Piccie below of the descent down to Blea Tarn in case it's useful to anyone. The bracken here will be pretty flattened on race day as well! Rough underfoot, care needed

Thanks Martyn. I think we went too far back down towards Wrynose before heading back east and then went too far towards langdale trying to account for the error. We found the line in your picture down to Blea Tarn and you're not wrong about being rough! Serious ankle breaking territory.

Maybe see you at the race. If not hope you get round without any mishaps!

    Re: Three Shires

Just thought I'd highlight that Ambleside website advises that due to wet weather we are once again parking in the Quarry. Selwyn requests that nobody trys to park in Little Langdale since it might put the race at risk.

Hope he has ordered the sunny weather we used to get at this race!!

    See you there
