If anyone's got/seen one I'd be interested to know if they've removed the administrative boundary stuff that OS maps always had on them.

These are a real bugbear for colour defective people like me; it's very easy to try and follow a parish boundary instead of a path in poor light!

I never understood why OS put this detail onto a walker's map; I can only guess that they were obliged to by the terms of their charter?

Even with normal colour vision the boundary markings are a real pain - especially where there is a path alongside. If the new AA OS maps do not have them it would be a big advantage.

Daleyboy, I don't think the extra discount using the code above is working but they (Dash4it) have regular ongoing discounts of c30% - eg OS Explorer Active maps (the waterproof ones) at less than £10 as opposed to an rrp of c£14.

Do you use the actives? I have always just used my paper OS Maps and thrown them in a map case. :s

Worht the extra money as I've seen the paper ones drifting around for like 4.99 on eBay

Daleyboy - I've also tended to use the paper ones whether for walking or running but have purchased a couple of Actives recently as replacement for well-used (meaning torn & muddied!) paper versions - so in the long run (deliberate pun!) I think they are worth it but its all personal choice.

As you say there are always bargains out there on eBay.
